How it works and how to install it
The thermostat uses a bimetallic plate that deforms at the set temperature, opening the electrical contact and interrupting the circuit. When the temperature drops below the reset threshold, the contact automatically recloses. Installation is done by screwing it onto the metal surface of the appliance, in the area where the temperature needs to be monitored, then connecting the two poles to the electrical circuit that requires protection. No specialized tools are needed — just a screwdriver and standard electrical connections.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
