How it works and how to install it
The thermometer works mechanically, without batteries or electrical components, through thermal expansion of an internal metal element. Position it directly on the oven rack or hang it from the back support, so the dial is visible through the oven door glass. After installation, wait a few minutes for the needle to stabilize at the actual oven temperature. If you notice differences from the oven setting, adjust the accuracy with the screw on the back. Maintenance involves cleaning with a damp cloth after cooling.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
