How it works and how to install it
gPV fuses are mounted in dedicated fuse holders in string boxes or PV junction boxes by simply inserting them into the fuse holder — no special tools are required and replacement takes less than a minute per position. When a short-circuit current or overload occurs on the DC circuit, the fusible element inside interrupts the circuit before the fault energy reaches the inverter or wiring. Before any intervention, disconnect the system according to the installation's safety procedure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use regular AC fuses instead of these for solar panels?
No. Conventional AC fuses are not approved for direct current at high voltages and cannot safely interrupt a DC arc, which can lead to fire or damage to the installation. It is mandatory to use gPV type fuses marked for 1000V DC.
How do I know if a fuse is blown and needs to be replaced?
A string of panels that is not producing power or producing significantly less than others may indicate a blown fuse. Verification is done with a multimeter in continuity or resistance mode, with the fuse removed from its holder.
Is the 10-piece set sufficient for a typical residential solar system?
A typical residential system with 1-3 strings requires 1-3 active fuses. The 10-piece set fully covers the initial installation needs plus reserves for several years of operation.

This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction.
