How it Works and How to Install
The 5W COB LED chip is powered by 15V DC via a compatible LED driver, with a working current of 300mA — it does not connect directly to the mains. Installation is done on a metal heatsink with thermally conductive paste to ensure the dissipation of heat generated during operation. The electrical connection is made via the 4 soldering pads marked with polarity (2 positive, 2 negative), accessible on the aluminum substrate.

Do I need a separate heatsink for this LED chip?
Yes, the integrated aluminum substrate is not sufficient for complete heat dissipation at maximum power. Mounting on an external heatsink with thermally conductive paste is recommended.
Which LED driver is compatible with this 5W chip?
An LED driver with a 15V DC output voltage and 300mA current is required. Using an incompatible driver can damage the chip.
Can this COB LED be used outdoors or in wet environments?
No. The chip has no moisture protection and should not be exposed to wet environments, condensation, or excessive heat sources.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
