3W Cool White COB LED Chip for Lighting Projects
The 3W COB LED chip with a color temperature of 6500K provides a clean, cool white light, suitable for replacing light sources in luminaires, small spotlights, or DIY electronic applications. The 11mm COB pellet is mounted on an aluminum alloy support that acts as a heatsink, ensuring heat dissipation and extending the component's lifespan. With a luminous flux of 390 lm at only 3W consumed, this chip offers a very good efficiency-price ratio for builders and repairers.
What you get with this product
- Cool white light at 6500K — ideal for technical lighting, workshops, or spotlight replacement, without yellowish hues
- 390 lm luminous flux at 3W consumption — high energy efficiency for the chip's small size
- Integrated aluminum alloy heatsink support — dissipates heat evenly; the pellet does not overheat during normal use
- COB pellet with protective gel — increased mechanical resistance, emitting surface protected against moisture and dust
- Four contact points (2+ / 2-) — secure and stable connection, compatible with standard 9-11V DC drivers
- Compact 20mm size — easily integrates into existing luminaires or custom projects with limited space
How it works and how to install
The 3W COB LED chip is powered directly by a DC driver with a voltage between 9V and 11V and a current of 300mA — it does not work connected directly to the mains without a driver. Installation is done by soldering onto a heatsink or screwing through the holes of the aluminum support, followed by connecting the two power wires to the marked + and - terminals. No advanced experience is required, but it is recommended to use thermal paste between the chip and the external heatsink for optimal heat transfer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a separate driver for this COB LED chip?
Yes, the chip requires a DC driver that provides 9-11V and 300mA. It does not connect directly to 220V without a driver.
Does the aluminum support get very hot during operation?
The aluminum alloy support helps dissipate heat, but for prolonged use, it is recommended to mount it on an additional heatsink and apply thermal paste.
Can it replace a 3W bulb in an existing spotlight?
Yes, provided that the existing driver is compatible with a voltage of 9-11V DC and a current of 300mA. Check the driver parameters before replacement.
