7.5uF 450V Motor Start Capacitor for Home Appliances and Industrial Systems
This start capacitor ensures efficient starting of electric motors in home and industrial equipment, from air conditioners and refrigerators to water pumps and compressors. Manufactured with a self-healing dielectric and a durable flame-retardant plastic casing, it offers long-term reliability in intense operating conditions. Connection is quick via the two integrated wires, with no need for additional components.
What you get with this product
- Efficient start for electric motors from 0.25 kW to 1.5 kW — the capacitor eliminates slow starting issues or blockages at startup for refrigerators, fans, and pumps
- Quick installation via integrated wires — connect directly to motor terminals, without additional accessories or soldering
- Extended thermal resistance from -40°C to +85°C — operates consistently in cold rooms, outdoor areas, or industrial spaces without climate control
- Self-healing protection against overvoltages — the SH dielectric automatically restores insulation after sudden discharges, extending lifespan
- Compatible with single-phase 230V and three-phase 400V systems — adapts to most home and industrial installations in Romania
- UL 94 V-2 certified flame-retardant material — reduces fire risk in extreme cases of overheating or short circuit
How it works and how to install
The capacitor stores and releases energy when the motor starts, providing the additional current needed to overcome initial mechanical inertia. It connects in parallel with the motor's auxiliary winding, via two wires: brown (phase) and blue (neutral). Installation takes less than 10 minutes: turn off the power, disconnect the faulty capacitor (if any), connect the wires of the new capacitor according to the diagram on the motor's label, then secure the capacitor with clamps or a metal bracket.
Operation is instantaneous: at each start, the capacitor creates an electrical phase shift that generates the starting torque, then continues to support the smooth operation of the motor. Lifespan: 10,000 hours at 400V, 3,000 hours at 450V, according to reliability classes B and C.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my motor's capacitor is faulty?
Classic signs: the motor doesn't start at all, makes strange noises at startup, overheats excessively, or trips the circuit breaker. Test with a multimeter set to capacitance — if the reading differs by more than 10% from the nominal value (7.5uF), the capacitor needs to be replaced.
Can I use an 8uF capacitor instead of 7.5uF?
Yes, a difference of up to 10% is acceptable and does not affect motor operation. It is important that the voltage of the new capacitor is equal to or greater than that of the original capacitor — never install a capacitor with a lower voltage.
How do I safely discharge a capacitor before replacement?
Always turn off the electrical power at the breaker box. Then short-circuit the two terminals of the capacitor with an insulated screwdriver or a 10kΩ resistor for 5 seconds — this eliminates any dangerous residual charge.
