How it works and how to install
Cut the required length from the tube, slide it over the connection or cable to be insulated, then apply heat uniformly with a hair dryer or heat gun. At 90 degrees Celsius, the tube contracts radially by a minimum of 50%, adhering firmly to the surface and forming a sealed protective layer. The length change is minimal, maximum 5%, so the tube remains precisely where you install it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a regular hair dryer or do I need a professional heat gun?
A regular hair dryer at maximum temperature works perfectly for 4.5mm tubes. A heat gun speeds up the process but is not mandatory.
How much does the tube shrink after heating?
The diameter is reduced by a minimum of 50%, so a 4.5mm tube shrinks to approximately 2.25mm, suitable for cables between 1.5-3mm thick.
Is the tube resistant to humidity or outdoor use?
The tube is moisture-resistant and provides good protection, but for long-term outdoor use, additional sealing solutions against UV and weather are recommended.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
