How it works and how to install
Cut the tube segment to the required length and slide it over the cable or connection to be insulated. Apply even heat with a heat gun or lighter, maintaining a safe distance. At 90 degrees Celsius, the tube begins to shrink and perfectly molds to the surface, forming a tight seal. The process takes 10-20 seconds per segment and requires no special tools.

Can I use a regular hair dryer for shrinking?
Yes, a powerful hair dryer works, but industrial heat guns provide faster and more even shrinkage. Avoid direct flame to prevent material damage.
How much does the tube actually shrink?
The tube shrinks radially by a minimum of 50%, meaning the 3.5mm diameter becomes approximately 1.75mm after heating, ensuring a firm grip.
Does it withstand outdoor conditions or only indoor?
The tube is resistant to moisture and abrasion, making it suitable for outdoor use, but for prolonged UV protection, installation in conduits or enclosures is recommended.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
