How it works and how to install it
The bimetal thermostat uses a metal blade that deforms when it reaches 110°C, interrupting the electrical contact. After cooling to normal temperature, the contact automatically re-establishes. Installation requires disconnecting the appliance from the mains, removing the old thermostat, and connecting the new one to the electrical terminals, observing polarity. Mounting is done by screwing it onto the surface to be controlled.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction.
