IR switch for 12V/24V furniture LED strips
The infrared furniture sensor transforms any cabinet, drawer, or shelf into an automatically lit space, without buttons and without complicated wiring. Compatible with 12V and 24V LED strips, it detects presence at a distance of 3 to 15 cm and instantly switches on the light. The ideal solution for interior furniture lighting, where classic switches are out of place and impractical.

How it works and how to install it
The sensor connects in series between the DC power source and the LED strip, via standard DC barrel connectors included on both cable ends. When an object or hand approaches less than 15 cm from the IR sensor, the circuit closes and the light turns on instantly; upon removal, it turns off automatically. Installation consists of attaching the sensor to the inner frame of the door or to the cabinet wall using the 3M tape from the package, followed by connecting the cables — no drilling, no tools required.
Frequently asked questions
Does this sensor work with any 12V LED strip?
Yes, it is compatible with any 12V or 24V DC powered LED strip, provided that the current intensity does not exceed 3A — equivalent to approximately 36W at 12V or 72W at 24V.
Does the light turn on by itself if I walk past the cabinet without opening the door?
No, the detection range is 3-15 cm, so the sensor only reacts to direct and close presence, not to movement in the room.
Do I need an electrician for installation?
It is not necessary. The sensor connects plug-and-play to the existing DC source, and attachment to the furniture is done with the 3M adhesive tape included in the package.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
