How it works and how to install
The rectifier bridge receives three-phase alternating current through its three input terminals and converts it into direct current at the output using a power diode configuration. The six diodes allow current to flow only in the required direction, generating a pulsating DC voltage that can be filtered for sensitive applications. The aluminum heatsink dissipates the heat generated during operation, ensuring thermal stability.
Installation is done by securing the component to a flat surface or DIN rail in the electrical panel, connecting the three AC phases to the input terminals and connecting the DC load to the positive and negative output terminals. Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
