The blue female cannon connector is manually mounted onto the audio cable by disassembling the housing into its components: rear cap with rubber sleeve, clamping bush, pin insert, and front metal body. The cable is threaded through the cap and sleeve, the wires are stripped, soldered to the three pins according to the standard XLR scheme (pin 1 ground, pin 2 positive signal, pin 3 negative signal), and then the housing is reassembled. No special tools are needed, only a soldering iron and pliers.

This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction.
