How it works and how to install it
The 3W RGB COB LED chip has three separate anodes for red, green, and blue, and a common cathode, with connections made by soldering or clamps on the marked pads on the metal base. For proper operation, a constant voltage power supply suitable for each channel and a heat sink applied to the back of the aluminum base, secured with thermal paste, are required. Prolonged operation without a heat sink is not recommended, as excessive temperature can damage the chip.

What supply voltage does each channel of this RGB chip require?
The red channel generally operates at forward voltages of 2.0–2.4V, and the green and blue channels at 3.0–3.4V; the recommended current per channel is approximately 350mA for the nominal power of 1W per channel.
Do I need a heat sink for this 3W COB LED?
Yes, the use of a heat sink with thermal paste is mandatory for stable operation and a long lifespan; without adequate cooling, the junction temperature rises rapidly, and the chip can degrade.
Can I get white light with this RGB LED chip?
An approximation of white light can be obtained by simultaneously activating all three channels at equal intensity, but the result will not be identical to a dedicated white LED due to differences in efficiency between channels.

This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction.
