How it works and how to install it
The G5 halogen bulb operates on a 220V AC mains voltage and is installed by simply inserting its two pins, 1.5mm thick and 5.3mm apart, into the G5 socket of the lighting fixture. No tools are needed — it attaches by pressing or gently twisting, depending on the type of holder. Before installation, ensure that the power supply is off and avoid touching the glass bulb with bare hands, as skin oil can reduce the bulb's lifespan.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this bulb compatible with a spotlight that uses a G4 base?
No. The bulb has a G5 base, with a 5.3mm pin spacing, different from G4 which has 4mm. Please check the socket type of your lighting fixture before ordering.
Why shouldn't I touch the glass bulb with my hand?
Natural skin oil deposits on the surface of the bulb and, at high operating temperatures, can create thermal stress points that lead to premature cracking of the glass. Use a clean cloth or gloves during installation.
How much power does this bulb consume and can it be used with a dimmer?
The bulb consumes 50W at 220V AC. Dimmer compatibility depends on the type of dimmer installed — models designed for resistive or halogen loads are generally compatible, but please check your dimmer's specifications.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
