The 12V SMD5050 LED strip with IP65 protection is designed for installations in areas where humidity and dust are risk factors — kitchens, terraces, facades, or under-cabinet outdoor lighting. With 60 LEDs per meter and a full 5-meter roll, this strip offers uniform warm white light without interruptions, at a low energy consumption compared to classic lighting solutions.

How it works and how to install it
The strip operates at a low voltage of 12V DC, so it requires a transformer (power supply) adequate for the total power — for 5 meters, a minimum 80W power supply is recommended. Installation is simple: clean the surface, peel off the film from the 3M adhesive backing, and apply the strip to the desired surface. If a shorter length is needed, the strip can be cut with scissors along the marked cutting lines, every 3 LEDs, without damaging the rest of the roll.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this LED strip directly outside in the rain?
IP65 protection withstands water jets from any direction, but the strip is not submersible. It is suitable for covered outdoor areas, terraces, facades, and areas exposed to splashing, but not for immersion in water.
What power supply do I need for the entire 5-meter roll?
For 5 meters at 14.4W/m, the total consumption is 72W. A 12V power supply of at least 80W is recommended to ensure a safety margin and stable operation.
Can I cut the strip to a shorter length, for example, 3 meters?
Yes, the strip can be cut at the designated markings, located every 3 LEDs (approximately every 5 cm). The cut does not affect the rest of the strip, and the remaining portion can be saved for other use.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
