How it works and how to install
The tubing is placed over the stripped cable or electrical connection, then heated uniformly with a heat gun or controlled heat source. At 90 degrees Celsius, the material contracts radially by at least 50%, forming a tight protective cover. The length of the tube remains almost unchanged (maximum 5% variation), allowing precise coverage of the desired area.

How much does the tube shrink after heating?
The diameter reduces by a minimum of 50%, so an 8mm tube will shrink to approximately 4mm after full contraction.
Can I use a regular hair dryer for shrinking?
It is not recommended. A minimum of 90 degrees Celsius is required, a temperature that a hair dryer does not consistently reach. Use an industrial heat gun, lighter, or heat pistol.
Is it safe for home or automotive installations?
Yes, the halogen-free material is certified for use in electronics and electrical installations, providing secure and durable insulation.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
