How it works and how to install
The thermostat contains a bimetal plate that deforms when heated. When the temperature reaches 140°C, the electrical contact automatically breaks, cutting power to the appliance. After cooling, the contact closes again. Installation is done by mechanically fastening the body to the surface to be monitored and connecting the two electrical terminals in series with the power supply circuit. No calibration is required — the 140°C threshold is factory set.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
