How it works and how to install it
The thermal fuse monitors the internal temperature of the electrical appliance. When the temperature reaches 104°C, the internal fuse permanently disintegrates and interrupts the circuit, cutting off power. Installation is done by replacing the old fuse — unplug the appliance from the mains, identify the faulty fuse, unsolder or disconnect it, then solder or fasten the new fuse in the same position. It is a single-use component — once tripped, it must be replaced.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
