How it works and how to install
The connector disassembles into three separate pieces: the threaded body with sleeve, the cable protection spring, and the head with solder contacts. The cable is first passed through the sleeve and the spring, the wires are soldered to the three pins (tip — left channel, ring — right channel, sleeve — ground), after which the spring and sleeve are screwed back onto the body. The knurled thread provides a secure grip for manual tightening, without the need for additional tools.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
