How it works and how to install
The cutter is ready to use right out of the box. To extend the blade, press the lock button and slide the chrome-plated support to the desired length, then release the button which secures the position via the spring mechanism. The serrated profile allows for precise indexing in multiple positions. When a blade segment dulls, open the rear cap, break off the worn segment using the special slot, and close the cap. A full blade change is just as simple, requiring no additional tools.

The leaf spring mechanism automatically locks the blade in the selected position, preventing accidental retraction during use. The indexing system with a serrated profile ensures stable fixation.
Can I use standard 18mm replacement blades?
Yes, the cutter accepts any standard 18mm wide and 100mm long blade, commercially available. The included blade is 0.50mm thick.
Can it be used for cutting thick materials like carpets?
The cutter is optimized for soft and semi-rigid materials such as cardboard, film, textiles, or thin plastic. For very thick or hard materials, we recommend a more robust industrial cutter.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
