The SP201E controller is a professional DMX512 decoder that allows control of addressable pixel LED strips and RGBWW strips via DMX or SPI signal. Compatible with almost all existing integrated circuits on the market, from WS2812B and SK6812 to APA102 and LPD8806, this device is the right solution for architectural, commercial, or entertainment lighting installations. It offers up to 5 parallel channels and can simultaneously control up to 1024 pixels.

How it works and how to install it
The SP201E decoder connects to the power source, the DMX input signal, and the LED strips via screw terminal blocks on the sides — no special tools or advanced electrical knowledge are required. When a DMX512 signal is present, the device automatically identifies it and acts as a decoder, translating console commands into signals for each pixel. In the absence of a DMX signal, it operates autonomously in SPI mode, playing one of the 99 internally stored effects, selectable via the MENU, UP, and DOWN buttons on the casing.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
