How it works and how to install it
The capacitor generates a phase shift necessary for starting the single-phase electric motor. It connects via the 4 metal spade terminals to the motor terminals, following the equipment's electrical diagram. Fixing to the motor housing or a metal bracket is done with the included screw and nut. Replacing a faulty capacitor requires disconnecting the power supply and identifying the correct terminals according to the equipment manual. Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
